The condition of my wheat cultivation is good this season. Before spraying the pesticides and irrigating the fields, I contacted the CCAFS service and the information I received on the weather forecast was quite helpful. I call the helpline no. on a daily basis to know about the weather forecast and the consultation I get from it has been beneficial. If I was to monetize, I could say I have benefited approximately Rs 3000-4000 per acre from the consultation received with regards to timely spray of medicines, crop diseases and subsidies available on seeds. If I go to the market, the shop-keeper would suggest 4-5 pesticides for the crop but the doctor suggests only the ones which are appropriate. I use my own knowledge in collaboration with the doctor's advice to cure the crop. With the weather forecast available I have been able to save water, electricity as well as time and it has also helped in avoiding wastage of pesticides due to runoff. All in all the CCAFS service has benefited me a lot. I would like to suggest that it would be really helpful to all if alongside information on agriculture, we also get consultation and information on social issues and livestock.
